Welcome to "Sip, Spill and Savor: Lessons from Biblical Women
I'm Robin, your host, and guide on this flavorful journey through the intersection of wisdom and the delightful world of tea. I've had a knack for planning and organizing from a young age. It came easy, considering I have 11 siblings, all younger than me. My experiences at home made basic army training nearly a breeze. Twenty years later, and the events of 9/11. During that time, I took on the role of senior noncommissioned officer in charge of planning events for service members visiting New York. My responsibilities included coordinating news, feature, and social events with media outlets, providing these brave men and women with experiences to remember. Finally, there was a title for my passion … a special event planner today, specializing exclusively in Tea Party Experiences.
How cool is it to blend my love for planning with the elegant and comforting world of tea? Therefore, today and forevermore, I promise to steep my best and savor every moment of this journey.
In these blogs, you can expect to explore the parallels between the lives and victories of women in the Bible and how they deeply resonate with our modern-day experiences.
So, grab your favorite flavor … let's sip and spill tea together!

Resisting the Urge to Rush the Process
Consider this curious yet profound similarity between waiting on God for guidance and waiting for tea to steep. It may seem like an unlikely comparison, but the parallels are enlightening and comforting within the realms of patience, revelation, and sacrifice.
Imagine, if you will, the anticipation of waiting for that flavorful cup of tea. The water is heated, the leaves or bags are in place, and all that's left is to wait for the magic to happen. In this moment of patience, we find our first key point—patience is the essence of flavor.
Similarly, in our spiritual journey, waiting on God for direction is a practice in patience. We yearn for answers and guidance, and just like tea that needs time to release its flavors, we need to allow time for divine wisdom to unfold. In the waiting, we discover the depth and richness of the lessons meant for us. Like Hannah, who waited patiently for a child, God eventually rewarded her patience, demonstrating that patience truly reveals blessings in due time. (Hear more of Hannah’s story here)
Now, let's consider the sacrifice involved in both scenarios. Waiting for tea requires resisting the urge to rush the process and understanding that sacrificing time is necessary for a superior taste. This brings us to our second key point—sacrifice is the currency of depth.
In our quest for spiritual understanding, waiting on God also demands sacrifices. Sacrifices of our impatience, our desire for immediate gratification, and sometimes, the sacrifice of our plans when we surrender to a higher purpose. Just as the best tea requires time, the finest guidance often comes when we sacrifice our need for quick answers. Hannah’s story is a profound example—she sacrificed her comfort and desires, even vowing to dedicate her son to God's service, which brought deeper meaning and divine depth to her life.
Lastly, let's reflect on the act of waiting itself. There's a serene beauty in the anticipation of that first sip of tea, just as there is waiting for a word from God. This leads us to our third key point—waiting is an active engagement with hope.
When we wait on God, we are not passive but actively engaged with hope and faith. Like tending to a brewing cup of tea, we actively participate in the process, trusting that the outcome will be worth the wait. In the silence of waiting, we cultivate a space for divine revelations to steep into our lives. Hannah’s fervent prayers and unwavering faith in God amidst her prolonged waiting period highlight that waiting is indeed an active engagement filled with hope and anticipation of divine revelations.
Last drops
Waiting on God for direction is akin to waiting for tea to steep. Patience is the essence of flavor, sacrifice is the currency of depth, and waiting is an active engagement with hope. As we navigate the complexities of life, let us remember these three key points and find solace in the shared lessons of a patiently brewed cup of tea and the awaiting of divine guidance.
